In Nepal, Viamo’s digital partnerships are enhancing the lives of women and girls by supporting water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) initiatives.
Together with SNV Nepal, we co-designed and deployed a social behaviour change communication campaign in six districts where WASH interventions are being conducted through the Water for Women – Beyond the Finish Line Inclusive and Sustainable Rural Water Supply Services and WASH SDG projects.
Accessible on the Viamo Platform on simple mobile phones, users received information about handwashing and menstrual hygiene. A digital campaign also provided facts dispelling rumors and myths, which may have been contributing to the rise of misinformation in rural Nepal.
More than 300,000 women have received valuable information via SMS, while almost 25,000 have received pre-recorded voice calls in the WASH-identified project districts.
