Our 2019 Reflection

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe we are at the start of a new decade – time flies! As we begin 2020, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on our impact, partnerships, and projects and to share some of our plans for the coming year.

First, let me say thank you to the organizations that partnered with Viamo in 2019 to deliver their programs through mobile. We truly believe that information is power, and that increasing access to actionable information can improve, and even save, lives. We are grateful for the partnerships and projects we’ve been involved with this past year that led to considerable impact.

We are also proud to share that we exceeded our target of reaching 8.1 million people, reaching:

Our innovative tech team worked diligently to improve our existing solution suite and successfully launch new solutions and features. I am particularly proud of two recent successes. In 2019, we added the WhatsApp channel to our platform’s social messaging capabilities, in addition to Facebook Messenger. We now help our partners to create chatbots using WhatsApp, a channel that their target groups are very familiar with. We also launched our mReferral app to help frontline health workers refer patients and clients for additional treatment, and track this data inside leading electronic health record systems. The mReferral app is one of the first apps we’ve built on our new App Store architecture, which helps us to efficiently create sector-specialized tools and integrations on top of Viamo’s communication networks.

I am excited about the huge potential of these two products in 2020, as our tech team continues to work hard on adapting them to our partners’ specific needs.

It was also an impressive year of growth for our flagship product, the 3-2-1 Service:

This is a 37% increase in listeners and a 169% increase in key messages listened to compared to 2018. We improved our user experience, increased our Caller to Listener ratio by 23%, and piloted innovative ways to access engaging content. We aspire to reach 8.8 million listeners and have over 100 million key messages listened to this year.

We also plan to launch the 3-2-1 Service in at least two additional countries in 2020. Our goal, as always, is to provide information on demand and free of charge to millions more low-literacy mobile subscribers who currently lack access to reliable information.

In 2020, some of our key goals are to:

  1. Launch a workforce management solution that includes communications, data collection, training and mobile money.
  2. Launch e-vouchers and e-referrals to better track behavior change.
  3. Double our presence in Asia and expand into the Middle East and North Africa.

With so many successful partnerships and projects achieved in 2019, we at Viamo are confident that 2020 will be a year full of positive impact. As always, we invite you to join us on our journey!
